The
broad objective of the study was to identify major barriers to business
challenges for communities in and around Tuticorin in Thoothukudi district of
Tamil Nadu. For the fulfilment of study, a mixed-method approach consisting of
quantitative as well as qualitative methods of data collection were adopted and
a sample of youth population – 343 and general population – 870 was covered.
Also, qualitative 22 in-depth interviews were conducted. The study was
administered in Joint venture with Madras School of social work, Chennai.
